creepy cocktails & candy
We know the holiday season can get a pretty crazy, especially when you think that it runs for about a 100 days from Halloween to New Years Eve. Not to mention the dent it can make in any one’s party budget that if you are like me was blown back in June! So, we decided that for three of our PARTY OF THE WEEK, we would do quite a bit of “recycling” showing how you can do three seasonal parties in one!
First up is our Cocktails and Candy Halloween Party, then we have a Deck the Halls Christmas Dinner Party next month and finishing off with a Black & Bling New Year Eve Party in December. Take note of the list at the end of this post – here we have highlighted what would be a good buy now, as can be used three times over…
STATIONERY
For Halloween, we kept it simple and sent an invitation from TINY PRINTS, do something similar or use any “spooky” picture and then note the party details below. Alternatively, get hold of one of the many Halloween Printable Parties that are available – check out Paper Crave’s round up of the best here and here – and email one of their editable party invitations.
TOP TIP: By emailing, you will save on the cost of printing, envelopes and postage. Plus, you are guaranteed to get your rsvps in quicker.
TABLE
Lay the table with a black linen tablecloth, and matching black napkins. Set each place setting with white dinner plates, side plates and cutlery. To “hide” the all white plate, place folded napkins on top of the plate. For place cards, print Paper Glitter’s Halloween name tags or the like and tie to each napkin.
CENTREPIECES
In the centre of the table, buy a big orange pumpkin, purchase additional pumpkins if you are setting up many long tables in one.
TOP TIP: Forgo the glass vases below and carve out the centre of your pumpkins and use as vases!
Use or source old glasses or jam or Purity jars, the more ornate the glass the better! Spray paint these with white primer paint. This project is totally worth the effort as these can be used for many, many occasions. Use these glasses and jars as vases filling with bunches of orange and dark, dark purple/black flowers. And as this is a cocktail party, add orange cocktail umbrellas to complete the look!
In addition, reuse four clear glass wine bottles or similar (with spouts that are only about 1.5cm in diameter), varied sizes are even better. Push into each spout black dinner candles, if necessary melt the wax to ensure they will remain in tact.

FUN AND GAMES
Request that each guest dresses up for the party. Then have a few categories: best dressed boy, girl, couple, most original, scariest etc. Then create a little voting sheet and have each guest vote who they think wins each category. Tally up the score and bestow each winner with a prize. You could even have booby prizes for the worst dressed, most confusing etc.
FAVOURS
For all guests, instead of favours, have the guests “knock” on your door and ask “Trick or Treat” and then hand out accordingly.
