As we get closer to Heritage Day (24 September) I am thinking of having a dinner party. And I think I have found the perfect flower arrangement idea on Catherine Mac's website. We have these bird cages available for hire, so all I need to do is track down a protea or two.

One of our most popular sale and hire items are our wooden crates. They have a number of uses and I thought I would share some of them here on the blog. First up, if you are planning a summer lunch or a fairy tea party, then for a unique table centrepiece, why not make a miniature garden. When we started In Good Company, over five years ago, one of the first things we offered our Johannesburg customers was our Hire Room. Here was a collection of our favourite party things that we often used for our own parties and decided to make them available for rent with very convenient terms, helping to make our customers' party wish lists a reality. 

Sure some purchases that you make for your celebrations will be keepsakes for many years to come, but other items you know you will only use once, and chances are this goodie will be in our hire room.

IN GOOD HANDS - Christmas Centrepiece II

Yesterday, we shared a woodland bell jar as an idea for a Christmas table centrepiece. Today, is something just as lovely, but very easy to execute. Here we filled a small silver champagne bucket with walnuts still in the shell and alongside bright red Lindt chocolate balls. A bright and festive centrepiece, and the best bit is after the meal you and your guests get to eat it!

Another great idea for champagne buckets is to use them as giant bowls like Kevin Sharky who used his collection at his cocktail party to hold packets (and packets) of crisps!

IN GOOD HANDS - Christmas Centrepiece

Creating a centrepiece for Christmas Day can easily be achieved with the use of a glass bell jar. Here Robs created a mini woodland inside one with a wreath base and then green foilage, red tulips and a few feathered robins.

Another bell jar idea is to fill it to the brim with baubles of different sizes and colours.

Yeah! We finally have the "wide" instant camera available for hire. It is so much fun to use - I had it at my daughter's ice skating birthday party and snapped a photo as each child arrived and they were the perfect addition to the little snow globe shaped photo frames that I gave out as favours.

We have been hinting at the fact that we are having a new "hire room" in the shop and in addition we are now wrapping up the final stages of our hiring catalogue (long, long overdue!). 

The theme is appropriately DIY décor which is largely our whole philosophy behind our hiring side. Thereby giving hostesses the means to use a variety of lovely things for their event without having to bear the full cost. So, not to give too much away, here is a little photo sneak peek at one of the shots that Vanessa Lewis took for our "contents" page. We are really excited to share the guide next week as it really is a unique photo shoot indeed!

Our hiring has always been something "a little bit extra" that we have done on the side. But now with knocking out the old bathroom - our shop is able to devote two whole rooms to all the hire goodies that we have to offer.
