coming home

One of our suppliers is Rosanna inc. and if you have never heard of this company before, then you are in for something special! Rosanna quite simply makes the most beautiful crockery I have ever seen (and that is saying a lot!) - adored the world over and now available in our shop!

You can then imagine my excitement when I saw that she has joined our facebook group – so why not join the party as well and you will get great exclusive benefits!

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=77116515128&ref=nf

What’s more I am always checking out her website www.rosannainc.com and I see she has written a book! Oh sweet joy! The only problem is I have to wait till March 2010 to get my hands on a copy! Well, I will just have to distract myself with her blog http://www.rosannainc.blogspot.com/ in the meantime… but be sure we will have a copy in the IN GOOD LIBRARY as soon as possible.

Here is a book brief as per her blog:

“Coming Home is the book I've wanted to write ever since my mother passed away ten years ago. In it, I talk about the values she taught me. I use these lessons every day in designing tableware and making a beautiful life for my own family. I'm grateful and gratified that I had the opportunity to put it all down in words and express some of the things that are most important to me in this special way.

Tradition, ritual, community, and beauty. The cornerstones of this book are the same ones Rosanna has always promoted as a company. The only difference here was that the book format provided me with a palette of creative expression very different from the tools I use when I design tableware. Sometimes the prospect of writing an entire book felt daunting, but the experience was always exciting. In these pages, you'll find some of my favorite recipes that I cook myself, tips on how to beautify your home in aesthetic and emotional ways, and a few peeks into my own family's rituals, traditions, and travels. I've written Coming Home as a seasonal guide in the hopes that organizing the book this way will help readers recognize how simple it can be to live well all year round. Keep your eye out for more updates here and on Rosannainc.com. I hope you're as excited as I am!”

Each wedding featured in this book is delightfully distinctive, showing how the couples involved created unforgettable days full of surprises, drawing on a host of themes, styles and colours at a wide variety of locations. The English country garden wedding; the California vineyard wedding; the tropical Bahamas wedding; the South African beach wedding — all completely different in style, but all highly original and brilliantly inspirational.

summer nights

Sometimes the best ideas are in the most unlikely places. Like I am still trying to learn Swiss German, and get past my three favourite words Gruezi (Hello), Auf wiedersen (Goodbye) and Viele Dank (Thank-you very much). So my husband had every reason to raise his eyebrow when I bought this book! But it is full of wonderful original ideas for summer entertaining and step by step instructions on how to do it yourself. As an added bonus it is a strong motivator for me to learn what has actually been written in German, thank goodness for now it is full of 100s and 100s of beautiful photographs.

wedding chic

Amazon.com Product Description

When you imagine your wedding, what do you see?

Maybe you dream of exchanging vows before an intimate gathering of family and friends at sunset, followed by a chic and elegant dinner under the stars in balmy weather. You can practically see yourself at the altar, taste the cuisine, smell the gardenias, and feel the music playing when you join your guests to party at the reception.

But before your wedding comes together with all the romance and glamour you’ve imagined, you’ll need to make decisions about the details. Is your color scheme bold and rich or soft and ethereal? Will you be married in your mother’s garden at the end of a serpentine path or on an exotic beach with the ocean crashing in the background? Do you desire an elegant sit-down dinner or a fabulous cocktail party with a great DJ who keeps the party going late into the night?

With so many choices, it can be hard to decide where to begin. Now there’s no reason to get overwhelmed, because wedding designer extraordinaire Colin Cowie is by your side every step of the way. In Colin Cowie Wedding Chic, he shows how to weave a thread of style throughout your celebration, from determining the overall feeling and mood to the smallest and most personal details of the event.

Following inspirational introductions from Colin about every part of your celebration, each detail is captured with magnificent photographs: bouquets; ceremony décor; centerpieces; reception décor; food and drink; cakes; invitations, favors, and gifts; appearance for the bride, groom, and attendants; ritual and ceremony; and music and after-party.
