princess party games

Yeah! Now for the princess and the pea party games...

Musical pillows
Play typical musical chairs but use pillows instead of chairs. I found these ones on sale for R35 each; and then added little green pom poms. The game starts with any number of players and a number of pillows one fewer than the number of players; the pillows are arranged in a circle with the kids standing in a circle just outside of that. A non-playing individual plays recorded music or a musical instrument. While the music is playing, the players in the circle walk in unison around the pillows. When the music player suddenly stops the music, everyone must race to sit down on one of the pillows. The player who is left without a pillow is eliminated from the game, and one pillow is also removed to ensure that there will always be one fewer pillow than there are players. The music resumes and the cycle repeats until there is only one player left in the game, who is the winner.

Pea Hunt
Before the party starts, pick a designated area in your home to hold the pea hunt. Scatter and hide green pom poms around that area. When you are ready to start the game, give each girl her own flashlight to search for the peas and her own little bag to collect them in. Turn off the lights and let the girls hunt for peas. It’s a good idea to limit the amount of peas each girl collects to keep it fair. Once they’ve found all of their peas, they can help someone else find hers. Let the girls keep their bag, peas, and flashlight as a take home favour. One could also use green beads, and then afterwards the girls can make bracelets to take home as well.

Pass the Pea
This is our version of pass the parcel. Have the party guests sit in a small circle, they will quickly pass a green ball around the circle as music plays. Once the music stops, whoever is holding the pea wins a small prize. The game resumes until everyone has won a prize. Some ideas for the prizes are: bedtime slippers, satin sleeping mask, nail polish, lip gloss and other bath goodies.
