Today is Shrove Tuesday, so naturally that means pancakes. I am not very good at baking as I am very quick to admit, so I was going to give this year a miss. But when I was doing grocery shopping, I stumbled over this Dr. Oetker (I guess the German equivalent of Betty Crocker) Pre-made Mix and it is literally Pancakes in a bag. All I had to do was add a glass of milk. Okay, I have to admit we aren't talking proper Crepe-style pancakes more like American-style flap jacks or crumpets as I know them; but all in all they tasted just as good! Especially with chocolate sauce! (I had to add lots of that as I have decided I am giving chocolate up for Lent!).
Insane? Well, I have done this before years ago with my sister very successfully - the only problem is, that was before I lived in Switzerland i.e. THE LAND OF CHEESE AND CHOCOLATE (and no I am not also giving up cheese - I did that one year and it nearly killed me as we went on a Cheese & Wine Tour to Fairview in Paarl, and it was really pointless as I don't drink and I wasn't eating cheese - the farm was pretty though!). And no Liam there is a snowball's chance in hell that I am giving up bread or potatoes, I think I tried that once and last all of about 3 hours.
Note: I am eating chocolate now as we speak (better get my full while I can).
