You can't catch me! I am the Gingerbread Man! Just couldn't resist the little rhyme today, as we share Taryne's (not so secret anymore) Gingerbread Recipe. This is a keeper, folks! And not only can you make little men from this recipe but Taryne has styled them below into bunting! BUNTING! Could anything be better!
125g Butter, softened
½ Cup Brown Sugar
½ Cup Golden Syrup
2½ Cups Plain Flour sifted
2tsp Ground Ginger
1tsp Bicarb Soda
Icing:
1 Egg White
½ Cup Icing Sugar sifted
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 190 deg C. Place the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat with electric beaters until light and creamy. Add the golden syrup, flour and bicarb and mix to form a smooth dough. Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until the dough is firm. Roll out the dough between sheets of non-stick baking paper to 4mm thick. Cut out shapes from the dough using a gingerbread man cookie cutter. Place on baking trays lined with non-stick baking paper. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on trays. To make the icing, mix the egg white and icing sugar until combined. Pipe on buttons or spread over the cookies and allow to set.
