I actually never knew the part of the story in the Wizard of Oz where Dorothy lies down in the poppy field. But I was glad I watched the movie to see this part, as it was then easy to decide on what flowers to use at the party.
The only problem is that poppies are very seasonal and so no luck at the florist. I however did come right with some plastic ones at a homestore - only though in white. So I did a little bit of crafting and for a minute there I felt like I was in Alice in Wonderland only I wasn't "painting the roses red"!
For the display, I used a yellow place mat as the yellow brick road and green glass vases to mimic the Emerald City.
