CHRISTMAS PROJECT
Christmas is a very busy time of year for Santa Claus. He has to get the sleigh ready, make sure the elves have finished all the toys, and check his list twice to be sure he hasn't forgotten any good girls and boys. But he always makes time to read letters from children, as he wants to be sure he's bringing the right gifts on Christmas Eve. If you want to be very sure Santa knows what your kids want this year, help them write a letter to St. Nick with these tips.
MATERIALS
Get in the Christmas mood, by putting on your favourite Christmas Carols CD.

DIRECTIONS
- Start your letter the salutation:” Dear Santa" or "Dear Santa Claus."
- Let Santa know who's writing the letter by writing your address in the top right hand corner of the page.
- Ask Santa how he's been, how are the reindeer, elves and Mrs. Claus. And it is always a good idea to say a little about yourself.
- Tell him how good you've been this year. Have you been nice to your sister or brother? Have you helped your parents by putting all your toys away? Santa already knows these things because he sees you when you're sleeping and knows when you're awake, but he likes to be reminded of the reasons you should be on the Nice list.
- Politely let him know what toys you'd like and why.
- Thank Santa for being so kind and close your letter with your signature.
- Put your letter in an envelope and seal and stamp it.
- Give the letter to your parents to send.
TIPS
Write a practice letter first.
Use a capital letter for the first letter of a name.
Check your spelling.
Clip a sheet of guidelines under the letter while you write it, so that your writing will be nice and straight.
