This idea spotted over at MS WEDDINGS is an ideal guestbook for any occasion particularly I think a birthday. You get a smart calendar (possibly pick one that suits the party theme) and then ask guests to write down a message where their birthday appears. Bonus: now you have not only sweet messages but know when ally our friend's birthdays so you can send some sweet words there way too.
Another idea, particularly for a wedding and it ties in nicely with the "paper" theme is for the guests to write in words of marriage advice or romantic date ideas for the couple to do in their first year of marriage.
