I am one of those people that don't have a very good memory, all my school friends seem to remember a lot more of what I did at school then I ever did. But when I saw this idea over at the Knot, it instantly rekindled a memory of a matric dinner that Alex held at her house for all of us girls. I can't remember the whole menu exactly, but what I do remember was the dessert. Her mom brought out a whole ice bucket of Magnums and Soleros and you got to pick which one you wanted. Such a simple but fantastic idea that I have never forgot.
Ever since then whenever we have a braai for guests I always just stock the freezer with every flavour imaginable, then literally it takes me seconds to serve and there is no clean up. Plus, seriously who do you know would say no to a Magnum?
Also, if you are planning a wedding this can be "fancied up" by placing the ice creams or popsicles already unwrapped in large champagne buckets of ice. A good idea for later on in the evening when guests are getting hot and sticky on the dance floor!
