The best favours are those that I think guests can really enjoy, and that is surely guaranteed with something edible. I particularly like these two offerings at a recent real wedding featured in MS Weddings:
Fruit cups with the addition of a custom flag and Jam jars with ribbon bands and custom labels. Best of all these are relatively reasonable to buy and DIY.
