mum's the word

Only a few days to go, so be sure to view our Mothers Day Catalogue for gorgeous gifting from Greengate! Shop online and feel free to write in the comments box you would like free gift wrapping and include your personal message.

Also, look closely at each page of the catalogue for a quick and simple idea of what good turn you can do for your Mom next Sunday - remember love is in the details!

SOMETHING GOOD

pinwheel passion

We decided to make a day of it! So we are featuring pinwheels in all their glory! Firstly, you know something is going to be fashionable when it graces the pages and shelves of Kate Spade, so be sure to look to major fashion labels for popular colours or accessories and styles if you want to have a hip & happening wedding or party.

So the question is how do you incorporate these little goodies into your party? I love the idea of using them in centrepieces or as place cards or escort cards (Style Me Pretty) or how about a bouquet made only out of mini pinwheels and the groom can have one on his suit jacket lapel!

Plan the whole party around them like this Pinwheels and Pearls Party from The City Cradle.

Finally, the best thing about pinwheels is that you can make these yourself:
For fancy ones...

GOOD LOOKS

hungry?

I love the Very Hungry Caterpillar, in fact I think it is compulsory for young children to have a copy in their book shelf. And I have to admit sometimes the best party themes can come from analysing every page of the book and then thinking up ideas for party decorations and fun and games.

Checkout all of our ideas in the latest issue of the Good Newsletter, and to go with all these homemade goodies we have a fabulous Hungry Caterpillar range in our online shop!

IN GOOD HANDS

pinwheel napkin fold

I received the perfect gift for Christmas, and I can’t believe that I have yet to share it with you all: it is THE PRACTICAL GUIDE TO NAPKINS AND NAPKIN FOLDING. And is fill with over 100 fabulous napkin folds.

So I figured I must share a few with you every now and again, and seeing that everyone including myself is smitten with pinwheels – here you can create the look in a few easy steps with either linen or paper napkins! LOVE IT!

PIN WHEEL

This lovely design looks great on a party table, creating a real sense of movement, and will especially appeal to children as it really does look as i fit could turn in the breeze.

STEP 1 – Open the napkin flat wit right side down, and fold the four corners into the centre to form a diamond.

STEP 2 – Fold two opposite edges inward to meet in the centre, creating a rectangle.

STEP 3 – Fold the two short edges of the rectangle to meet in the centre, creating a small square.

STEP 4 – Carefully tease out the loose corners under the flap nearest you, holding the napkin formly with the other hand.

STEP 5 – Flatten the flap to make a point at each end, then swing the right hand point towards you; this forms two blades.

STEP 6 – Turn the napkin around and repeat steps 4 and 5 to form the remianing two blades of the pinwheel.

GOOD BUYS FOR MUM'S DAY
& GOOD FUN FOR LITTLE ONES

GOOD PEOPLE

tiny bite

Today I am sharing with you my best kept secret! Her name is Allison of Tiny Bite or as I like to call her South Africa's Peggy Porschen! She does the most amazing iced biscuits I have ever seen, and already my own private list of orders is too long to mention.

What's more she is super nice, really reliable and well priced. In fact I think I am going to regret letting everyone know about her because I think she will get too busy for my future orders. Here is some eye candy, but do go and have a look at her website www.tinybite.co.za and she also does great looking and tasting cakes and cupcakes!

SOMETHING GOOD

singing in the rain

With all the unseasonal rain that we have been having, no need to have dampened spirits, in fact my new favourite thing has to be brollies! And I suspect once you have seen these photos you are actually going to have brides praying for rain...

Pretty excited for some new stunning umbrellas that are coming our way later this year (think fuchsia pink and turquoise with pompoms and sparkles!). Great for bridesmaids and Christmas gifts. And even if it doesn't rain our Chinese Paper Parasols are perfect to shield guest against harsh sun or frankly I think they are just too perfect for photos to pass up on come rain or shine!

And for those of us not getting married, I am now looking into my third possible theme for my daughter's birthday, what about Mary Poppins and do a whole ceiling of umbrellas?

GOOD HOLIDAYS

fiesta fun!

If you are planning a Cinco De Mayo party then look no further than St Louis Entertains for what must be the best Mexican Party I have ever seen. What I really like about this article is the real good advice that they give about repurposing everyday items for party merriment. My favourite has to be the hat as a bowl and a close second are the boot vases!
