For the Woodland party, I was really lucky that we live right next to a forest and even more so that is it has a great playground complete with swings, slides, climbing frames and even grilling facilities. I would totally recommend to anyone hosting your party in a public park - as the advantages totally out weigh the disadvantages.
Advantages:
- Free!
- Lots of space for kids to run and play.
- Parking.
- Facilities for playing, braaing, bathrooms etc.
Disadvantages:
- Weather dependent - but encourage guests to come along rain or shine and just dress appropriately.
- No privacy - it's a public space after all. So it is important to have some extra grown ups on hand to look after the kids.
And the greatest advantage for me is that the party was a Woodland theme, so to have it in the woods pretty much covered the decoration completely. Save for a bit of bunting of course!
