Make lemonade; or not! Today, I helped host an English Cream Tea. It was so lovely, but I have to say my grand plans of making real Lemonade were thwarted. This is the recipe I usually use, but I have also included my cheat's version if you are in a bind like I was today...
THE REAL RECIPE
BEST LEMONADE EVER
INGREDIENTS
1 cup Sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)
1 cup Water (for the simple syrup)
1 cup Lemon Juice
3 to 4 cups Cold Water (to dilute)
MAKES 6 CUPS
DIRECTIONS
1. Make a simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a
small pot until the sugar is dissolved completely. 2. While the sugar is
dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough for
one cup of juice. 3. Add the
juice and the sugar water to a jug or dispenser. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water,
more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the
lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon
juice to it. 4. Serve with ice and sliced lemons.
MY CHEAT VERSION
Mix 2 Litres 7UP/Sprite, 2 Litres Sparkling Water and a bottle of Lemon Juice (250ml or so). Done!
