In the Wizard of Oz, everyone has a request for the Wizard. The Lion wants courage, the Scarecrow a brain, the Tin Man a heart and Dorothy wants to go home. Following these lines here are a few themed party games:
Ask the Wizard For...
Have a glass fish bowl shaped vase, and ask the little guests to write a wish on a piece of paper and then pop it into the jar. Who knows maybe their wish will come true! Alternatively, fill a glass jar with good fortune sayings, and have the kids each pull one out.
As Brave as a Lion
Set up an obstacle course: have kids run around, jump over obstacles, carry heavy sand bags etc. At the end reward them with a gold chocolate medal badge.
Did You Know?
Create a little General Knowledge quiz with age appropriate questions (or even all about the book - one could even read an abridged version beforehand). The child who answers the most correct questions, can win a certificate - possibly a gift certificate to their favourite store.
Locket Love
Play the Tin Man Toss or Pin the Heart on the Tin Man, and award kids with their own heart shaped lock (available at hardware stores).
