Another fun idea, for slightly older kids at your Constrcution Party is to create a mini workshop. Build a make-shift workbench from a pallet, and place a wooden board on top. Kids can then just kneel on the floor around it. Alongside have crates/boxes of different types of supplies: wood off cuts, jam jar lids, washed tin cans, corks, scraps of fabric - in fact any bits and pieces that you thin could be crafted into something. Then supply some small hammers and nails and let the kids make something!
We did this recently at a community fair, and my girls (age 3 and 5) crafted this "car" and "boat". You will be amazed at the little ones' creativity and with a little help (parents supervision is a must) turn trash into treasure.
