There are many things that I love about the whole blogosphere especially all the fab. giveaways and who does not love to enter a competition? So you can imagine my sheer delight when not only did Maddycakes host a Easter and Spring Tablescape Competition - but we came in 3rd place for our Easter Craft party.

Check our our other fun entry here. And better yet check out the Maddycakes Muse blog for great party inspiration!

nonpareil

If you are looking for great DIY projects for your wedding and would love lots and lots of free downloads then Nonpareil, an online magazine is the place to go! Already with only two issues under their belt they are up alongside the likes of Martha Stewart Weddings and Brides. My favourite idea has to be their Spa Party "Dessert" Buffet.

bonnet beauty

An Easter bonnet parade is always great fun, whether the bonnets are made before the party or as an activity during the Easter event. From adapting an existing straw hat to fashioning a crown out of stiff card, the bonnets can be as simple or as extravagant as you like. Use fresh flowers, feathers and little fluffy toy chickens to decorate, tie with our pretty ribbons and then put some music on and encourage the children to parade around and show off their hats.

No words are required for how fabulous this idea is for a wedding photobooth! I am literally already getting my carpenter on speed dial to make this happen for me! Not that I am getting married but I know I will be sure to have 101 brides giving me a call to find if we have one of these! I will keep you posted!

back beauty

I love the US tradition of making a feature of the Bride & Groom's chairs at the wedding reception. And I especially love the stunnig simplicity of these beribboned ones for the main table from Style me Pretty. Visit our online store for pretty Petersham Ribbon choices.

bread and butter

Here is a great idea from a real wedding featured on Snippet & Ink, Jenny & Kyle used breadboards to serve their h'ordervers. What a great idea for more country chic canapes and well suited to weddings and dinner parties alike. In this style even slices of pizza are guaranteed to please the eye.

st paddy's day

A few weeks ago I suggested that maybe when it comes to decor for a cost effective solution, you should go for a bright and/patterned tablecloth and pretty much that is all you need. Well, I put this into action yesterday and I have to say I think it worked really well! So I am now going to make my third trip to the fabric store to get more lovely linens, lucky them and lucky you!

to have and to hold

I have a special place in my heart for Irish weddings what with mine being inspired by classic Irish symbols like the shamrock and Claddagh. You don't marry a Gallagher without some sort of toast to the Green Isle. I wish I had known about this traditional ritual of a Hand Fastening Ceremony- especially as we have such pretty petersham ribbons in over 100 different colours and styles to suit any wedding colour palette. Check out Style me Pretty for St Patricks Day inspired wedding ideas.

chalk it in

A popular alternative to printing stationery items on paper is to use chalkboards like Ingrid & Tim did in their GOOD LIFE real wedding. How about some of these trendy alternatives:

Use heart or flower shaped chalkboard tags (available now at Loads of Living) for placecards.

Make directional signs for guests to find their way to the Wedding, Parking, The Loo, Ceremony etc.

Set an oversized one near the entrance and chalk in everyone's seat or the menu. This is especially attractive when finished off with a brightly coloured frame - and this could make a great addition to your kicthen, study or hallway in your home.

bubbly & bites

Alex and I really enjoy meeting our customers in person, so we are really excited for this upcoming weekend SHOWDAYS. It is so nice to share ideas with you and for you to tell us all your great party plans. I loved that one of clients is having a Pirates & Pancakes Party! How awesome is that! It made me realise that sometimes I stress too much about the food at a party, I think it is because it is compeltely out of my comfort zone... but I realise that it can be really simple especially if it is interactive. Here are some other good ideas from real people:

Alex's husband had a Beer & Burgers 30th
Ingrid at her wedding had Beer & Biltong for the boys during the cocktail hour while the girls had High Tea
Christi from P is for Party had a Pancake & Pearls Party

So, please do join us for our Champagne & Cupcakes on the 12-14th March 2010.
What ...&... party are you planning?
