a rose is a rose

Many a romance has centered around a single long-stemmed red rose, and trimmed with ribbon this makes a fitting buttonhole for the groom.

For the centerpieces achieve maximum impact with just one type of bloom. The fleur du jour? Ruby-red roses “planted” in sleek black lacquer vases (at the end of the night, give them to special guests or, later, use them to enliven your living room).

Fill each vessel with damp floral foam to form a base for the arrangements, stick in the stems, and then camouflage the foam with leaves. As a finishing touch, tie a ribbon bow and push this into the flowers instead of tying around the vase.
