happy spring day!
Yeah! It is finally here - wishing you a very good season.
How cute is this pic? But to be honest I don't think my husband could ever have pulled off this Style Me Pretty buttonhole, but I know two little girls that would wear these all day and night long. These little pip cleaner buttonholes are perfect for bridal showers, baby showers and kids parties! Plus, super easy and inexpensive to make! Pity I don't have some cleaners lying around so I can make me one for today! (Note to self: buy pipe cleaners)

GOOD ON PAPER
hanky notecards
Yesterday, we raved about using scrapbooking paper for placemats, while don't even worry about going to the store for paper, why not increase the size of these pretty free printables and use these! Amy from Eat Drink Chic designed these stunning handkerchief inspired note cards for making up a clothesline of love letters to be sent to the bride and groom in lieu of a traditional guest book. These note cards would also make pretty cards for any occasion!

SOMETHING GOOD
paper mats
This wedding spotted over at 100 Layer Cake has so many wonderful ideas, and would you believe that the bride's wedding dress only cost 5USD! (and that is not a typo!). The idea I really like is how the tables were decorated with each place setting have a different piece of scrapbooking paper as a placemat. This is a great idea for all occasions especially for kids parties - so if you are struggling to find specific party colours or a theme - you are pretty much guaranteed to find it in the form of paper!

This is definitely a collection to invest in as can be used for a wedding, rehearsal dinner, engagement party or at home for a dinner party, Christmas or New Years Eve Dinner. Our favourite has to be the new addition of the crystal balloons and table weights.

SOMETHING GOOD
boots are made for walking...
How cool is this Style Me Pretty bride! To wear such funky gum boots (even if just for awesome pics) would make any bride wish for rain and puddles (just maybe!).

ladybird doll
Remember early this week we had a little sneak peak of the little wooden cake topper doll paint your own kits from Goose Grease. Well, they will only arrive in store in a week or so, but last night I thought I just had to try out a sample one for the fun of it - and it really was so much fun!
The last time I painted was when I did art in Std 7, but I am pretty impressed at how cute the little cake topper came out - and yes! Celeste (who I know reads my blog) this little girl is Eliza and is in the mail as we speak just in time to arrive for Eliza's First Birthday cake - which is naturally all ladybird themed.
The thing I love about the cake toppers is that you can paint just about anything - check out Goose Grease for ideas, and how they make darling wedding cake toppers! All a nice craft activity to keep kids busy in the holidays.

GOOD BOOKS
domino
Yes! Finally, I got myself a copy of the book when I was in Denmark from Urban Outfitters. I know I am a bit behind, but possibly it was a good thing. As all I can think about doing now (besides planning Bailey's 2nd Birthday less than two weeks away) is moving and have a house exactly like about ten of the examples shown. Fortunately, I read a very good article on Apartment Therapy entitled "How to Scratch the Moving Itch". So I have taken heed of their five rules:
If you can't move, redecorate.
Take a day to reorganize your space.
Rearrange your furniture.
Give your space a top to bottom cleaning.
Invest in a new piece of furniture.
So, together with this sound advice I am allowing myself to be inspired by the rooms in Domino. But another thing that I really liked about the book was how each category has been divided up and it got me thinking that this would apply nicely to a book about parties:
The first Chapter is entitled GETTING STARTED and with a bit of paraphrasing here is the plan for a party:
1. Find Inspiration: cast a wide net, start a file, look for themes
2. Determine the Style: attach words to your inspiration like "laid-back, glamourous and traditional, but with a twist".
3. Consider the Party Venue: think about what you want versus what is there, observe what doesn't work.
4. Assess your Stuff: Photograph, sort and count/measure.
5. Draw up a Party Floor Plan
6. Set a Budget: Figure out what you have to spend, choose an approach, make a shopping list.
7. Research, research, research
8. Create a Party Plan: Consolidate the information you have amassed and see how your choices stack up.
9. Make a Party Schedule.
The book then has a chapter about each room, and I like how for each one they focused a few pages under the heading THE BIG PIECE. I really like this idea too for a party. So when you are planning your next do, consider what is your party's BIG THING!

GOOD LOOKS
ikea love
Did you know that most of the items we used for our Golf Bachelors we sourced from Ikea? Whilst we don’t have Ikea in SA, it proves that you can look at the most unlikely places for party inspiration and goodies. A good place to start is actually your own house and then go as far afield as your hardware store.

floating flowers
Spotted this arrangement over at Style Me Pretty and thought it would have made a gorgeous centrepiece idea for our Spa Party article in this month's issue of the Good Newsletter. The benefit if such an arrangement suspended in water is that you can create an impressive arrangement with only a few blooms suspended in a tall glass jar (we have some great styles for hire) of water; and you don't need expert skills to pull it off.

send someone spring
Love this freebie from Benign Objects: a spring birds and blossoms themed envelope and a suggested play list for Spring time. And if you can't make the CD then use the envelope by filling it with dried scented petals to make an original drawer sachet to keep all your linen and lace fresh with that spring feeling!

GOOD LIFE
pick me
This little party seen over at Sara's Perfect Parties has some really cute cherry ideas that can be easily replicated for any party - how about an "apple of my eye" baby shower or first birthday?
THINGS WE LOVE:
The all red balloons - imagine if you were to use a few our giant red balloons.
The white platters of sandwiches wrapped up in white glassine bags and finished off bakers twine. We have six colours available like red and white, mint green and white, baby blue and white, grey and white etc.
The real life cherries used to literally be the cherry on top of the vanilla iced cupcakes.
The kraft favour boxes tied with bakers twine and my best of the bunch: red lollipop sticks fashioned into cherries and the leaf name tags. Try using our kraft gable boxes too.
